The nearest airports to Bodenmais are Linz, Munich and Prague. There are six airports within a three hour drive.
There are various train routes from Munich airport to Bodenmais. Or follow the directions to the right to get to Zwiesel and find your transfer on from there.
To transfer from Munich to Zwiesel by train, follow the Sign Z for Zentrum from the departure lounge. This is where all the ticket stands are. Look for the Red DB sign or Green S for S Bahn sign. You can purchase a Bayern ticket for the first person (around €22) and. up to 4 additional people only pay €4 each.
Catch the Number 635 Airport bus to Freising Bahnhof Railway Station (don’t go into Munich or you will have to come out again).
There is a ski bus that takes you to the Bretterschachten ski area (free with the tourist card) and there are variouslocal train services to nearby areas.

With the right amount of snow cover it is possible to ski the trails from Bodenmais village. Buy the løipe pass for your cross country skiing in the Hotel Böhmhof.
For more variety and longer lengths, take the ski bus to the nearby resort of Bretterschachten .
A sunny trail for beginners. From the car park the route goes over the bridge to the entrance of the trail system. It is slightly ascending for 1 km, then cross the Kronbergweg and continue to follow the signs. After a short easy descent, there is a slight climb towards Böhmhof (connection to the Kohlplatz trail). Then an easy descent with a short counter climb that follows a moderately difficult descent where the trail ends.
Start at the car park and go over the bridge to the entrance to the cross-country ski track. There is a slight climb to the Bodenmais-Deggendorf state road, then the track continues towards JOSKA Glasparadies. Cross the farm road and follow the signposts, you will alternate between easy descents and climbs as you follow the red trail back to the starting point.

An easy to moderately difficult circuit in the district of Kottinghammer. The cross-country ski trail at Bergwinkel is also connected to the Mosshof trail.
The Skadi Loppet used to be held in March each year, but because of lack of snow in recent years, it has moved to the end of January. It is one of the Euroloppet series of races and has the options of 42K and 24K Classic and 32K and 17K Free technique races. The course follows the ski trails mentioned above in various guises.
