Autrans

Autrans, Vercors, France

Autrans is situated on the Vercors plateau in the Vercors Regional Natural Park, and reaches an altitude of 1283 metres. It has 60 kms of cross country skiing trails, and a further 40 kms in Gève and 3 kms in Méaudre if there is sufficient snow.

Getting to Autrans by Air

The nearest airport is Grenoble. Lyon St Exupéry is 150 km and there are regular flights from the UK with a variety of airlines.

Ski bus information/timetable
There is a local bus network that will take you from the town up to Géve and along to some of the lifts which will take you onto a higher snowline.

Méaudre

Is within skiing distanec of Autrans. From the nordic centre at Autrans take the navette up to Carrefour du Cret, follow the tracks around the contour for a couple of kilometres to La Vira at 1380m and then ski downhill for 11 km all the way to Mèaudre at 1000m. The descent is so gradual that you have to ski the whole way, but it is a really excellent track for practising technieque and cornering. The hardier skiers can ski the track in reverse!

Refuge de Gève is a pretty auberge on the Plateau de Gève. This is an excellent stop off for coffee or lunch and they also have rooms to rent.
Where to Stay in Autrans

 You will find a  selection of places  to stay here in Autrans. One of these is the  Hotel de la Poste-Barnier  in the town.It is a short walk to the cross country ski stadium with direct access to tracks, hire of equipment and løipe pass. It also has an excellent restaurant and pool and wellness centre. A small area is available to store skis and for waxing.

Cross Country Ski Races

La Foulée Blanche is held every year around the 17/18 January and has classic races of 5K, 20K and 25K and freestyle races of 5K, 10K, 20K and 42K. The Ultra Foulée Blanche is the 25K classic on Saturday and 42K freestyle on Sunday.
