Gseisertal-Val Casies is in Area 03 of the Dolomiti NordicSki zone. The valley has a wide, sunny basin with around 42 kilometres of cross country skiing tracks passing farmhouses and many guesthouses along the way of snow covered fields and forests. You can also reach the villages of Tesido and Monguelfo from Val Casies, and from Monguelfo the track connects to the Puster Valley trail towards Villabassa, Valle di Braies, Dobbiaco, San Candido and Sexten.

The track to Santa Maddalena is somewhat challenging, but will reward you with a great view of the valley and a rest on the sun terrace.
Cross country passes are €8 a day and can be downloaded onto your phone. You can buy them online.
Start beside the Hotel Magfalenahof. A panamoranic, sunny route at the head of the valley.
Ascent 45 m
The track starts near the train station in Monguelfo, a 10 minute walk from the station. Take the track in a south west direction.
Ascent 24 m
This is a connection from Tesido to the Val Casies valley track. From the crossing point you can ski to Santa Maddalena or Monguelfo, and then further to the 3 Zinnen Dolomites area.
A route from Monguelfo to Santa MAddalena and back to Tesido and Monguelfo. You can start at different points along the track.
The Huski ski rental is located at the end of the valley in San Madalena.

The Gsieser Tal Lauf is held in Val Casies in February each year. It is a 30 km classic and 40 km skating race in the Euroloppet series. It's a circular route starting in San Martino. You'll find more information on the Gsieser Tal Lauf website.
